Sugamo Shinkin Bank by Emmanuelle Moreaux

We are head over heels in love with the work by French/Japanese designer Emmanuelle Moureaux who seems to have a special talent in picking a superb kaleidoscope of bright colors.  And the colors match so wonderfully well.  Take for example this bank building which she designed in Tokyo Japan.  The design of this wonderful piece of modern architecture and its interior design was based around the "leaf". The facade of this beautiful modern building features silhouettes of trees and an assortment of 14 multi-colored colors windows arranged in a rhythmical pattern that transforms the facade itself into a sculptural piece. ATMs and teller windows are located on the first floor, along with 3 courtyards and an open space.  Every building needs an outdoor courtyard, being that we human beings are becoming so detached with nature, and this bank has plenty of courtyards for employees & customers to re-energize!  The second story houses the loan section, reception rooms, offices and 4 courtyards, while the third floor is reserved for facilities for staff use. Thanks to the 7 light-filled courtyards, each of these spaces is loosely connected to all the others. A constellation of leaves in 24 different colors growing on the white branches of the walls and glass windows overlaps with the natural foliage of the real trees in the courtyards, creating the sensation of being in a magical forest.  Now this is a bank I want to open an account with!  So refreshing, I would happily wait in line.  Well done Emmanuelle!  Let's hope her creations dot cities everywhere.
