Volcano House

There are days when we have nothing noteworthy to write about: this is not one of those days!

Prepare to be blown away (ultimately perhaps by the volcano). The modernist Space Age Volcano House was actually built upon an actual real small volcanic cone in the high desert midway between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The most unusual location where it not for the fact that the house fits like a nipple on a breast (picture 2 from top). This 60-acre retreat seems to cap the mountain top with its dome-like roof: concrete and truss beams form its dome allowing the interior to embrace 360 degrees of stark, strong almost lunar landscape. Main house of two bedrooms, 2 baths and open entertaining areas. Guest house of one bedroom and bath, lake, and ultimate privacy. This icon of modern architecture features 4 bedrooms and 3 bedrooms, room enough to take in the accidentally stranded UFO passengers perhaps. Truly one of a kind property in the most impressive of settings, area 51 certainly comes to mind. We love this house but it may not be in the right school district...

On the market for $750,000.00

Commercial water, sewer and electricity... or is it off the grid?
