Lost Masterpieces of Italy

As we walk through the huge doors, the light reveals the thick dust that coats the remainders of its former splendor: pale frescoes, abandoned furniture in the great hall and century-old wallpapers seem to be frozen in time but have certainly not been inert to the cruelty of the passage of years. These beautiful lost masterpieces are perhaps captured one last time before they are reduced to rubble through the lens of brilliant Parisian photographer Thomas Jorion in his series Forgotten Palaces.
