David Weeks: Hanno the Gorilla

Under normal circumstances you would never want to invite a Gorilla to your home. But this is different! Unlike a real Gorilla, this little friend does not require high maintenance, in fact, he doesn't even like bananas! Never the less, he is ready for play whenever you are.

Hanno the Gorilla is a fun and very unique quality wooden toy. Hanno the Gorilla was created by Brooklyn-based designer David Weeks. This Gorilla was named Hanno after the Greek voyager who discovered Gorillas 2500 years ago. Hanno the Gorilla is a brave, strong, and curious little monkey. His powerful hardwood frame can hold many poses, and his elastic-band muscles and durable wood limbs make him almost impervious to breakage. Hanno the Gorilla is made with sustainably harvested beech wood. Hanno the Gorilla makes a great unique gift idea for both children and adults.

David Weeks founded his Brooklyn based studio to focus on the design and development of products for commercial and residential interiors. The studio’s recent projects include seating and lighting collections for Ralph Pucci International, a bar interior in North Carolina’s Outer Banks, and consumer product development for Kikkerland and AREAWARE. Originally from Athens, Georgia, Weeks earned a BFA in Painting at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and then worked with jeweler Ted Muehling before founding David Weeks Studio in 1996.
